What I Wore Wednesday

Oh yeah, it's been a while...time for a little What I Wore Wednesday...
As always, the denim jacket is a recurring theme.
What can I say...I have a style & I stick with it.

This summer was HOTT & HUMID.
It wreaks havoc with my hairz.
So, LOTS of buns, hun.
LOTS.

And, can I give a shout out to The WalMart
for really stepping up their game...
Hello, CHEAP statement jewelry!
Cuteness!

And, every girl needs a Royals hat in PINK & NAVY.

Little bit of Western wear for the CF Foundation's Shoot For The Cure Western dinner.
Any excuse to wear my cowboy hat!

And, let's be honest...
there was a lot of casual wear, baseball hats & braids the month of August
while getting ready for the KC Wine Opener.

Speaking of which, some fun photo booth shots with me & part of my tribe
at the BIG event!
So blessed by these gals.
My go-to bun was a lifesaver that day.

Every girl also needs a sparkly Chief hat!

I think I lived in flowy pants this summer.
They are my all time fave.

And, can we ALL just stop and give thanks to Jesus
for the return of the flared legged jean.
AMEN.
Of course, I never stopped wearing mine.
But, I'm glad to see others joining me & demanding more than the skinny jean.

And, finally...some great thrift action with this tank & sweater.
I put myself on hiatus this summer from shopping.
It was good for me (and my wallet).
Plus, I have a LOT of clothes.
I started the annual seasonal purge this past weekend.

So, there ya have it...
another What I Wore Wednesday in the books.

Time to step up my game...
I was kinda lazy this summer.

Excited for some fall weather & fall clothes...

If you have a look you'd like to share, email it to me with the deets at
justjilly@ rocketmail.com!
I'd love to share What You Wore!

Happy Windsday!

Barren

Life had been going at such a pace that I barely noticed.

Well, not a first.
Until that Sunday, when Pastor Kyle tapped the microphone.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Rest.

His words, "We need to learn the unforced rhythms of grace."

What I heard was....

Busy.

Busy.

Busy.

Busy.

Busy.

Busy.

Barren.

And, I felt a little, okay, a LOT like David in Psalms 40,
"And me? I'm a mess. I'm nothing & have nothing; make something of me."

I shared with my friend about my barrenness when she asked me why I wasn't writing any more.

I shared of my struggle...relating that in the busyness...I had become barren.
His LIVING Word no longer jumped of the pages, but I was merely plodding through.

What was there to write?
"That", she said, "Write about that."

So, I am.
Because sometimes I'm obedient.

And, I'm relying on His words in Matthew 11.
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you'll recover your life.  I'll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me & work with me. Watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me & you'll learn to live freely & lightly."

Emily Freeman, author of A Million Little Ways, put it like this...

"God is not a technician.  God is an Artist.  This is the God who made you.
The same God who lives inside you.
He comes into us, then comes out of us, in a million little ways.
That's why there's freedom, even in the blah.
Hope, even in the dark.
Love, even in the fear.
Trust, even as we face our crisis.
And, believing in the midst of all that?
It feels like strength & depth & wildflowers spinning.
It feels risky & brave & under dog winning.
It feels like redemption.
It feels like art."

I am ready to make ART.
So, you'll find me here...plodding through.
Maybe you, too, are living in the
BLAH...
the DARK...
in the FEAR.

Plod with me, friends.
