Fri-YAY Fitness :: The Ugly Truth

A little over two years ago, I began a journey
of
health & wellness.
And, then my life fell apart.
Awesome.
(that's some serious sarcasm, peeps)

(oh, I used to be blonde...in case you came late to the par-tay
& this was my first go round on the Daniel Plan)

I didn't give up my health journey ALL at once.
It was a little here.
A little there.
Worst of all...
I lost my gym partner
(oh, he also happened to be my husband).
Well, I didn't loose him.  I knew exactly where he was...
he just wasn't with me. (smile...the grimacing kind)

I hated facing the gym alone.
I hated people asking me where he was.
I just hated it.
Period.

Then, I had surgery.
(of the girl variety)
It took longer to heal than I thought it would.
("oh, you'll bounce right back!" ha! LIARS.)

Finally, I drug myself back to the gym,
and plantar facsiitis struck
& a small stress fracture.
So, I was off my foot for weeks.

When I finally could get back in the gym,
all my motivation was gone.
(oh, and my husband! ya gotta laugh, people,
or you cry. a lot.)

Heck, it was WAY more fun to go out with
#mykcsquad than hit the gym.
(Doesn't the dance floor count as cardio?)

Now...it's time to face the ugly truth.
Get back on my beloved Daniel Plan
& be my own cheerleader at the gym.

On Fri-YAYs, here on the blog...
I promise NOT to overwhelm you with
progress pics & such.
And, while I admire other people's pics...
that really isn't my focus.

My focus is this:
to share my favorite clean eating recipes, quick workouts,
and some thoughts on focusing on wellness not weight.

If you are going to ZHUSH your life...
you gotta ZHUSH it
spiritually, mentally, emotionally
AND
physically.

If you are interested in the Daniel Plan,
you can find the book HERE!
I follow it about  90% of the time.
I'm not gonna lie...the first 10 days might feel like they are gonna kill ya.
They won't.

The one habit I gave up & did NOT pick back up was SODA.
One of the best things I ever did in my life was give up Diet Coke.
I suffered from migraines for YEARS.
Migraines that landed me in the hospital with IV jabbed into my veins
pumping me full of drugs...
since I gave up Diet Coke COLD TURKEY on January 6, 2014...
I haven't had ONE migraine.
NOT ONE!
All those years, all those medical bills, and I was drinking little silver cans of POISON
& making myself sick.
I promise that will be the ONLY thing I preach.
Give up the POP, people!
(stepping off my soapbox now)

Happy Fri-YAY, friends!
I hope you have an amazing holiday weekend.

Thriftalicious Thursday :: Shop My Stuff

Today, at 8am...I'll be hosting a #thriftaliciouthursday sale on my Instagram account,
@jillywilliams!

Here are the items that are for sale!

This beauty is my daughter, Corinne.  The girl is a natural in front of a camera.  She admittedly is NOT the fashionista her mama is & will tell you she has ZERO sense of style, so she loves it when her mama styles her closet!  In fact, that was part of her birthday present this year!  She actually asked me to go through her closet & put together outfits for her to wear to her big girl job at an insurance company & for going out with her friends.  I had a ball & she loved just reaching in her closet for an outfit!
Just a little reminder that I can provide this service for you, too!

Here, Corinne is wearing a vintage skirt, size 4, in bright yellow with black polka dots.  The waist is elastic in the back, so it is a bit forgiving & would fit a size 6. All the girls loved this because it has pockets!  It is a great summer skirt & looks great with chambray & a POP of red.
I would be remiss (& my mama would shoot me) if I didn't tell you this skirt most DEFINITELY needs a slip under it or it leaves NOTHING to the imagination.
So, be a lady...wear a slip & make my mama, Sherre, happy!

Fantastic Banana Republic skirt, linen, & lined.  Size 10. Personally, I think Banana Republic & Gap run small...so, I think it's closer to a size 8.
You can style this casually with a chambray shirt & some flip flops
OR
dress it up with a little black sweater & some kitten heels.
It is super versatile.

Corinne was playing in the par-tay closet & decided to accessorize this skirt herself.
Don't you LOVE her flamingo glasses???
Size 10, cotton, & lined by MODA International.
If you can't tell...chambray/denim is a go-to.  But, this would look great with a tank & cardi, or even a little t-shirt!

I love this J Crew skirt!  Size 2.  Linen & lined.  It has an elastic waist, so I would say you could wear it if you are a size 4 as well.  I made it a little "rock star" here with the Betsy Johnson fringe heels (which aren't for sale...because they are mine, and I LOVE THEM!).
But, this skirt definitely has a preppy vibe & would look cute with a tee & Keds, too.
Corinne just isn't the preppy type, so her mama styled it accordingly!

I still love the maxi dress & this a great one!
Size Medium.
Wash & wear.
And, fun for an evening out!

Such a great dress...I love this purple color & a POP of yellow just make it!
Size 11 (JUNIOR).
I would say it fits more like a size 9.
Fantastic for ALL the weddings you're attending this summer!

This is definitely the LBD you need in your closet!
Halter front.
Straps are thick & criss cross in the back.
It is a size Small and made by Alexia for Alexia Admor.
Machine washable & is lined.
The flower at the neckline is just the right amount of ZHUSH.
My daughter LOVED this dress!

Closer view of the halter front.
And, yes...she really is that beautiful.
Inside & out...she makes her mama proud.

Detail shot of flower.

Such a cute Banana Republic long sleeve double tee!
So soft & looks great with jeans, white slacks or a little skirt!
Fancy it up with a statement necklace or play it casual & knot a bandanna around your neck.
Size Large.  Again fits more like a Medium.

Who doesn't LOVE Ralph Lauren?
Always a classic.
Hot pink, long sleeve, V-neck tee.
Size XL.  It's Ralph Lauren, so it runs small & fits more like Large.
Great with a jean skirt, white linen slacks or just a pair of jean shorts for running around the Farmer's Market...

Meet Hannah, my oldest son's girlfriend, and my "second" daughter.
Hannah is petite.  Not quite 5' 2". Just so you have a reference point.
This KU sweatshirt is AWESOME.
I love it because it is so different from all the other's I have seen!
Hannah professes it be "so soft".
Size L (but really more like a M).

Hannah pulls off the preppy look like NO other!
J Crew haberdashery shirt. Size M.
Definitely a classic to add to your closet.
White shirts are a wardrobe staple.
American Eagle plaid skirt...would reach about mid-thigh on someone 5'6" or taller.
Size 6.
Looks great with a fun necklace & fedora!

Light weight blazer.
Great for the summer!
Love it styled simply with a white tank & tassel necklace!
Size Medium.
I absolutely LOVE this blazer!
It would be my top pick for a staple in a wardrobe if you were looking to build
on some basic pieces.
The weight makes it perfect for spring & summer...and, you could pull it into fall as well.

Meet Nicole.  Hannah's BFF. We love our NED!
Nicole is wearing my fave find this last week.
This is a size SMALL (and, by small, I mean a size 2),
the brand is a boutique line called Everly and it is the cutest
 damask shift dress EV-AH!
It is a classic that can go through from morning until evening.
Machine wash & a light iron is all that is needed!
I'd pair it with boots & a denim jacket in the fall...
tights in the winter...
cute peep toe heels to dress it up.
Simple accessories since it has a busy pattern.

Hannah has on a size 6 Lilly Pulitzer skirt.
I love Lilly.
Her clothes are always summer fresh.
This has a small (pin point) black dot on it that will not come out in the wash.
But, hey...it's a Lilly & for this price...you can live with a little bitty dot!
There is also a small stain on the inside of the skirt...it is not visible from the outside.

This Forever 21 skirt is so fun for summer.
And, that elastic waistband...HOLLA!
Stylish & comfy!
Size Medium.

When I pulled this shirt off the rack, Gale Nation, my BFF, thought I was crazy!
But, I knew it had amazing potential.
And, I knew my fellow boho loving friends would eat this
VINTAGE find up!
Nicole's long locks make it all the better with the hat, dark skinnies & my Betseyville booties.
Nicole is tall, so she doesn't often wear heels...
it was fun to watch her wobble around the house in these!
Size S/M though it says size 10.  Vintage sizes typically run smaller.
Machine washable.

Size 6P Ann Taylor Loft dress.
Great dress for work in the summer.
If it's cool in the office...a little black cardi tops it off or make it POP with a yellow or red!

Great Old Navy halter dress.
Size L so it fits a bit big on our teeny model.
This is the perfect Saturday dress!
Pair with with wedges & a jean jacket!
I seriously considered keeping this one for myself!

We love this Banana Republic sweater!
Size small.
So versatile.

I know it's summer, but it's never the wrong season to add a staple to your wardrobe & come October...you will be so glad you did!
This lightweight sweater will go under blazers, vests, a cardi or alone!
Size XL.  Fits more like a L.

This Grace jacket/sweater is amazing...
it is the BEST of both worlds.
Size M.
It would look great with a black tank, tassel necklace, dark jeans & heels
for grabbing a glass of wine with the girls!

This Vera Wang came with the tags still ON!
I heart me some Vera & her attention to detail.
This is an XSmall.
It fits our size 2 model perfectly.

Close up of the details that make Vera so very Vera.

There you have it!

All clothes have been washed or dry cleaned & pressed. (I believe in an IRON!)

Please note that our models range from a size 2 to 6.  The clothes that run larger were clipped in the back (designer/modeling trick) to make it appear that the clothes fit them. So, don't judge the piece by how it fits our petite models.

What I Wore Wednesday :: June 29 Edition

Wow...well, hey there!
It's been a while since I did a
What I Wore Wednesday post!

So, let's just jump right back in...

Got me some tired eyes in the pic above,
but some super awesome duds from
TARGET.
The dress & the shoes are from the pocketbook nemesis.
The necklace is from #thewalmarts.
Yep, I'm gonna keep on preaching it until you believe it.
Walmart has the BEST cheap trendy jewelry out there.
Don't be silly & spend a ton of money on stuff that's
just going to be out of style in a couple of years...
take off your snooty pants & get yoself to #thewalmarts.

Another Target dress, cardi & heels & another Walmart necklace...
are you seeing a trend here?
It doesn't help that Target is literally in the back parking lot of my office building.

Outfit deets:
Earrings, bracelets, necklace all Walmart.
The orange cuff is from Hen & Chicks...
you can find them on IG or Etsy.
I have a million of them.
I love them all.

This maxi dress was a hand-me-down from a neighbor.
The jean jacket is from Marshall's, shoe from Ross & the necklace
from Everyday Icing...who seems to be no longer in business.

A hat is my go-to item for dirty hair or humidity...
or like the day above, BOTH!

The entire outfit above is thrifted...all from Goodwill.
Talbots skirt, Old Navy sweater & Issac Mizrahi kitten heels.
The necklace is from....get this...
#thewalmarts!

I'm a fan of casual Friday....
The Western shirt is thrifted from Goodwill.
Tank & boyfriend jeans are from Target.
The booties are Betseyville from Betsey Johnson & fill my boho heart with love.
The necklace is from H&M...I LOVE IT!

This beauty is my daughter being silly while modeling some amazing thrift finds that will be for sale tomorrow on my IG account!  You do NOT want to miss this sale!

I love this WhoWhatWear shirt & the jewelry...
it is a new summer favorite.
And, let's talk for a minute about EYELASHES.
I love false eyelashes...I buy the $2 ELF brand at Target & wear them whenever I go out.
They used to be a DOLLAR...so, I'm still a little miffed over the price increase, but they are so worth it.  Now, at the office...I wear Better Than Sex mascara that I pick up at ULTA.
Let's not even discuss the name of the mascara because it's totally LAME.

Who doesn't love a over-sized white linen tunic in the summer?
I feel like I should be on Martha's Vineyard.
The blouse was from H&M, the wide-leg pants & the necklaces from Target
The heels are from Charlotte Russe & those ruffles get me every time!

So, there you have it...What I Wore Wednesday!
Remember, that ZHUSH offers personal styling sessions!
I'd love to help you "shop your closet" & find your sassy style!
