I love books. I suffer from a bit a guilt every time I make one of these. I am a book murderer. But, let's get over the guilt & make a book wreath like the zillion & one on Pinterest.
I start with a cake "thingy" that you get in the baking section at Micheal's or Hobby Lobby.
Cover it in Modge Podge. Use Modge Podge NOT glue. Trust me on this. M'kay?
Cover the entire piece with book pages. I purchase my books at the thrift store. Big shocker! I prefer the Reader's Digest Condensed Books. The older the better...you'll see why when you scroll down.
Then cover the top with Modge Podge. Set aside & let dry. I planned on making several wreaths. So, I just worked an assembly line. The evening before, I sat & watched some Big Bang Theory on the Boob Tube & made a gazillion of the paper cones.
Simply tear out the pages. Wrap into a cone. And, tape. Plan on about 22-24 cones per wreath if you are making a single layer wreath like this.
After the Modge Podge dries, trim the edges.
Then lay your cones onto the base & arrange.
Hot glue in place.
I purchased glittery ornaments from the Dollar Tree for my wreaths for Christmas. I hot glued those in place as well.
You can either hang it from the tab with a nail or Command hook OR string a ribbon through it & hang the wreath from the ribbon since it is so light weight.
I made some wreaths with the vintage colored pages from the Reader's Digest books.
I love them!
Some are just simple.
Below is the wreath I made for fall. For that wreath, I cut out a "donut" shape out of cardboard & did a double layer of the cones.
I've been having a lot of fun with old books lately. I'll be sharing more projects down the road.
Happy Crafting!
